Leveling is the raising of floor and wall areas of a building, your home may already have concrete stumps or brick piers which have become out of level. This can be fixed by raising the house and lifting to level in addition to packing the stumps or piers. This is known as a “lift-and-pack” or “jack-and-pack”. The packing material used is a high stress grade plastic, and is available in a variety of thicknesses to suit differing jobs. Lifting and packing is the process of restoring the original levels of a floor or wall, which has changed due to timber shrinkage, brick movement or soil shrinkage, in homes or buildings that have already have sufficient foundations. This process involves the use of hydraulic jacks to lift the floor and walls, and then use structural packers to fill the gaps between the bearer and the stump. Leveling is also often necessary after a burst water pipe or flood damage.
